This double espresso cup combines function with whimsy. Part of Annebet Philips’s Carte Blanche series, it captures the essence of a first prototype in tactile porcelain.
Dutch designer Annebet Philips makes her Serax debut with Carte Blanche, a remarkable coffee and tea set. She translated classic cups and saucers into simple, almost childlike shapes, first cut from cardboard. These playful prototypes were then literally transformed into porcelain, while keeping their fold lines and uneven edges.
Hand-painted, irregular lines further accentuate the spontaneity of the designs. The result is a uniquely playful collection that captures the magic of the very first idea. The set includes espresso cups, a cappuccino cup, a tea mug with saucers, a milk jug, and a teapot.
